Jessica Berzins Signs With Canisius

Jessica Berzins of Placentia, CA has signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Canisius College beginning in the 2013 season.

Jessica is a speedy outfielder who was an All-Orange County selection at Valencia High School. She's a slap hitter, and accomplished bunter who uses her speed well on the base paths. She will have a chance to start immediately in the Griffs' outfield, which struggled defensively this past season.

Jessica is a very late signing for Canisus. The reason for this is that she originally signed with Cal State Northridge for the 2013 season. That did not work out for whatever reason, and apparently Northridge did not release her to sign with another school, meaning she had to wait until their season was ended, which was last weekend. She will be at Canisius in September.

Decker Catches The Spotlight On Varsity

Taylor is hitting .449 with 20 RBIs and 14 doubles her senior season
Decker’s freshman year is when she decided to dedicate herself to softball. She had been playing volleyball and softball on both club and school teams simultaneously. The moment she decided to stick with softball was when she made Kara Brun’s Storm team. “The level of play opened my eyes to a whole other aspect of softball. I found myself loving the challenge of upping my game,” Decker said. The Cactus Shadows softball team is a small and close group of girls. “Taylor is always willing to go the extra mile for her teammates and the betterment of the team itself,” Monica Milinovich, the pitching coach, said. Decker’s team mentality is her strongest character trait that she will carry on to Canisius College. “I would love for her to have a great softball and school experience so she can come back during the holidays and tell us all about it,” Gianni said.

Some Articles On Sarah Andrews

Sarah has tossed a perfect game and no hitter in 2013
This past season has shown that the Golden Griffins are in desperate need of pitching if they wish to return to contender status in the MAAC.

Coming this fall is Sarah Andrews, who plays for one of the top high schools in Arizona, and a very good travel program, the Arizona Storm Gold. Hopefully, the Griffs will be smart enough to get her into action immediately.

I've compiled a few articles that show the progress of Sarah this year.

Bobcats' complete pitcher

Cienega senior pitcher Sarah Andrews has bounced back from an injury to lead her team to the No. 1 ranking in Division I.
Andrews threw a perfect game last Thursday in a 10-0 victory at Douglas. The senior struck out six over six innings to improve to 8-1.
It was the first perfect game Cienega coach Eric Tatham could recall in his seven years at the helm.
"I was just going out there and pitching," Andrews said. "It was really a normal game. I was actually shocked I pitched a perfect game at all. I didn't know until the end of the game."
The Canisius College commit has tossed seven complete games and owns a 0.49 ERA. Through 57 2/3 innings, she has held hitters to a .180 batting average and has issued only five walks.
Andrews, who leads the Bobcats in home runs with four, is one of three seniors and the lone connection to Cienega's state championship team in 2010. Tatham ranks Andrews right behind former Cienega star Alexa Cash, who holds the school record for strikeouts with 827 in three seasons.

Cienega Softball poised for the top step

One of the major keys for Eric Tatham squad this year has been the return of Sarah Andrews in the circle. The senior missed a large chunk of last season due to injury but has bounced back to post a 12-2 record this season with just six walks in 89 innings.
