Jenn Solis Earns First College Win

Freshman pitcher Jenn Solis finally was given her fist career start Tuesday at the Demske Sports Complex, and achieved her first college win with a 4-2 win over St. Bonaventure. Jenn pitched five innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out three Bonnies. Amanda Baun pitched the final two innings, and was awarded with the save. Meghan Cuda got the Griffs on the board in the first inning, after leading off with a single and eventually scoring due to a St. Bonaventure error. Meghan was 3 for 4 in this game, and hit her sixth triple of the season, which kept her in the top five nationally in that category. St. Bona tied the game in the second inning, but the Griffs would score three times in the fourth to go ahead for good. Canisius had four hits in that inning, and scored on RBIs by Tori Nappo and Meghan Cuda. Stephanie Pfentner made it home on another St. Bonaventure error.

The Griffs also won game one of the local doubleheader. After falling behind 4-0, they strung together six consecutive singles in the fifth inning to tie the game. Robin Kennery drove home two runs, and Stephanie Pfentner and Katie Medina drove home single runs for a 4-4 game. Canisius scored three more runs in the sixth inning to win 7-4. RBIs by Michelle DelPrince and Robin Kennery, her third of the game, sealed the game for the Griffs.

Canisius is now 16-13, and will next host MAAC rival Marist in a crucial conference doubleheader Saturday.
