Griffs Pound Out 21 Hits In Game 2 Win

Katie Medina led the comeback
When Katie Medina returned from injury last season, the Golden Griffins began a surge that led them to the MAAC tournament. It was no coincidence; the same thing seems to be happening again this season. The senior had missed about half the team's games this year; she came back to the lineup and has been on fire. She's hitting .400 at present, and in today's second game at Rider, was a perfect 4 for 4 with three RBIs. All four were key hits, the last being a two RBI double that brought home the winning run. Katie is the only player remaining from the last Canisius championship team. She didn't play that year (2009), but she was on the bench with the team when they won it all; she's seen it done. Keep your fingers crossed that she stays healthy.

Canisius played very poorly in the game one loss at Rider, being shutout by a team that has struggled with pitching all season. They only had three hits. Once they fell behind early in game two, they seemed to play scared, and went on a barrage of endless hitting. They had an incredible 21 hits in the game. Besides Katie's 4 for 4, Meghan Cuda, Alexis Roman, Michelle DelPrince and Robin Kennery each had three hits. Canisius will have to play with this attitude for the rest of the season to be effective.
