The Clarence connection continues at Canisius

Moriah Harris of East Amherst, NY has verbally committed to play softball at Canisius College beginning in the 2015 season.

Moriah Harris is the third baseman for the New York State champion Clarence High Red Devils where she was a teammate of course of current Griff Tori Nappo. Moriah had a fabulous sophomore season at Clarence, hitting for the second highest average in school history (.531). She also hit five homers and three triples while driving home 26 runs in 24 games. But she saved her best for the Red Devils' historic playoff run to the state title. She was awesome against the best competition. In the Section 6 championship game, Moriah went 3 for 3 in the win over Niagara Falls...all the hits being consecutive home runs, the first player in school history to do that. She hit another homer in the Far West Regional win over Fairport. In a tight championship game against Cicero, Moriah drove home the winning run in the 6th inning to give Clarence their first State title in any sport. She enters her final two years of high school softball as one of the top players in the area.

This is a big early commitment for the Golden Griffins. This past fall, Moriah played in the prestigious TC Rising Stars All-American game, an annual event that showcases the top high school players from across the nation. She currently plays travel ball with the TC Tremors where she is teammates with future Griff Lindsey Silfer, and has also played with the Diamond Girls.

 Congratulations Moriah!

Happy New Year!
It's certainly a happy new year for Canisius softball as they recently received a commitment that I believe will be one of their biggest in recent memory.

Madison Weathers of Westminster, CA has verbally committed to play softball at Canisius College beginning in the 2015 season. Madi is a pitcher who is currently in her junior year at Fountain Valley High School. She plays travel ball with one of the premier clubs in the country, the Corona Angels out of Southern California. In 2011, Madi led the 14U team to a second place finish at the prestigious Premier Girls Fastpitch national tournament, posting a 1.29 ERA and a 4-0 record along the way. We won't be seeing Madi here until the fall of 2014; we'll keep an eye on her development for the next couple of seasons.

Congratulations Madi!
