Sarah Andrews of Vail, AZ will sign a national letter of intent this week to play softball at Canisius College beginning in the 2014 season.

Sarah is a pitcher and outfielder at one of Arizona's top high school programs, the Cienega High Bobcats, a team that has made it to the Arizona State title game three consecutive seasons, winning once. An All-Southern Arizona First team selection, Sarah hit .406 in 2012 which earned her the team's Offensive Player Of The Year award. In the circle last season, she saw more time as a reliever; in 2011 as a starter, she had a record of 13-2 with a 2.51 ERA, walking only one batter per seven innings. We'll have to wait until next fall to see what her role will be at Canisius; she was also named as Cienega's Defensive Player Of The Year for her work in the outfield. Sarah plays travel ball with the Arizona Storm Gold.

 Congratulations Sarah!

Early NLI Week Approaches

Jenn Solis after signing her NLI earlier this year
My apology for not writing much lately; been under the weather.

The early National Letter Of Intent signing week for Division 1 softball this year will occur from November 14-21. Presumably Sammy Sharkey and Lindsey Silfer will be signing then, but who else might be putting pen to paper and head her way to Canisius next fall? With the loss of Brenda Santana and Sonia Aguilar before this season, I believe there will be three more to sign on the dotted line for the Griffs. Canisius was heavily pursuing a Canadian player, a typical Coach Rappl recruit with tons of speed, but she chose another school in the end. She is an outfielder, so I guess the Griffs will be looking in that direction. Will they also be looking for a pitcher? I presume they spoke with Hamburg's Bridget Hogan, who eventually committed to Niagara. Which local players may be in the picture? I'll of course to find out the answers to these questions. Hard to believe the season begins in about three months!
