LINDSEY SILFER COMMITS TO CANISIUS

Courtesy of the Syracuse Post-Standard

Lindsey Silfer of North Syracuse, NY has verbally committed to play softball at Canisius College beginning in the 2014 season.

Lindsey is a catcher and first baseman at Cicero-N. Syracuse, one of the best high school programs in New York State. If the school seems familiar, this is the team Tori Nappo's Clarence Red Devils faced in the recent New York State championship game. Lindsey had a great playoff run for the Northstars, hitting a seventh inning game winning RBI in a Class AA Region final game. She then hit a seventh inning game winning RBI in the State semifinal. She also drove home Cicero's only run in their loss to Clarence.

Lindsey had a great junior season for Cicero, resulting in her selection to the New York State Class AA team, and the All-Central New York team. In 27 games, she hit for a .443 average, including 11 doubles and 21 RBIs. She hit .400 in 2011. She is an outstanding athlete, also playing volleyball for the Northstars; she was selected All-CNY in that sport as well. She currently plays travel ball with the TC Tremors Gold.

Congratulations Lindsey!

Tori Nappo Interview

Tori (on the left) and Maureen Rogers interviewed by the Buffalo News after Clarence's blowout Regional win:

Clarence And Hamburg Head To States

Future Griff Tori Nappo homers again for the powerful Red Devils

For the second consecutive game, Clarence's offense exploded for 18 runs, this time in the Class AA Far West regional against Section 5 Champion Pittsford, played Tuesday in Niagara Falls. 2011 All-American Tori Nappo had yet another great game, doubling home a couple runs, and hitting another playoff home run. Also homering for Clarence were Moriah Harris, who hit three the previous game; Maureen Rogers; and Niagara bound Ally Gay. The Red Devils have scored an astounding 66 runs in their last four playoff games. Katie Bull earned another win in the circle.

In the Class A Far West Regional, Hamburg continued their dream season with a 2-1 win over Section 5 Champion Pittsford-Mendon, a team that won the State title in '11. Bridget Hogan, the favorite to win Pitcher Of The Year, had a fabulous game in the circle, striking out 12 batters against a top rate opponent. She also provided the major offensive spark for the Bulldogs, putting them in front with a homer in the first inning, then driving home the winner in the fifth inning. Pitt-Mendon did not go down easy, but a great relay by Hamburg resulting in a tag by third baseman Allison Salerno ended the game.

In the Class B Regional, Cleveland Hill saw their great season come to an end with a 13-6 loss to Mynderse. It was the Lady Eagles' first trip to the Regionals, so they have a lot to be proud of. Ryan Betz finished her high school career with two homers in the game.

In the Class C Regional, Frewsburg beat Caledonia-Mumford 6-2 to earn their second consecutive trip to the State Championships. In Class D, Forestville saw their season end with a 7-2 loss to Batavia-Notre Dame.

The New York State High School Championships will be held this Saturday, June 9, in Queensbury, NY. Clarence will play Section 8 Champion General MacArthur. Hamburg will play the winner of the Regional between S. Glens Falls and Jamesville, which is being played June 6. Frewsburg will play Section 4 Champion Green.
